The miniature ironing board cover leapt from its packaging like an eager Narragansett filly at the bell. Strong, capable hands slipped it over the narrow end of the cold steel frame that would be its home for the next thirty years, spreading its elastic edges to their purpose, and in a final burst, gained and held the broad end in two sure pulls; first left, then right in short order. The Polder had been truly, soundly covered again; in a way even more completely than with its original. “Impossible”, I thought upon a single stroke of its entire length, “but I sense a lush, plush depth? immediately under the sleek skin of this still-untried newcomer to my home. My overall experience? I don’t iron overalls.
